Special Olympics Massachusetts Event Volunteer Registration Portal


Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Special Olympics Massachusetts! Events are great opportunities to support Special Olympics athletes. You can register for one event, or as many events throughout the year that fit your schedule! Events include competitions and fundraising events. Event details are available below to the left under "News". To register for an event, please click on the event link on the right to register through the event registration page. On the event registration page, you will be able to select your specific shift time. All event registration forms are located below to the right under "sign up."

Once you submit your volunteer registration for an event, you are automatically approved and registered to volunteer. You will receive an initial confirmation email that your registration form was received. The week of the event, you will receive a detailed confirmation email with a reminder of your shift time, event address, and other event information. Please add Volunteer@specialolympicsma.org to your email address book to ensure you receive all event communication.

Marlboro Young Athletes each Wednesday, 10/2-11/6

The Special Olympics Massachusetts (SOMA) headquarters is hosting the Marlborough Young Athletes fall training session at 512 Forest Street, Marlborough, MA 01752.   The program is each Wednesday, October 2nd through November 6th, 4:00pm - 5:30pm (a total of 6 days.)   Athletes ages 2-7 years will be introduced to a variety of fun sports activities. Young athletes will train weekly with the focus on improving motor development skills and hand-eye coordination. Volunteers will be partnered with a young athlete to teach new sports skills, assist with giving directions, and create a fun, first introduction to sports. Volunteers are asked to commit to all 6 weeks. If you're not available all 6 weeks, you may register for as many weeks as you're available. Please note, volunteers who commit to all 6 weeks will be given priority of volunteer job assignments. Register online on the link available on the right, or directly HERE.

Senior Sports on Cape Cod October 11th & 12th

Senior Sports is the annual state tournament for athletes 45 years and older who have made a lifetime commitment to sports and staying active. Senior Sports begins on Friday, October 11th at the Cape Codder Resort in Hyannis with Opening Ceremonies and the team dinner and dance. Competition is on Saturday, October 12th at Barnstable High School located at 744 W. Main Street in Hyannis, MA 02601. Athletes from across the state will travel to Cape Cod to compete in bocce, cornhole, or golf in the morning. In the afternoon, all athletes will compete in race walking on the track. Volunteer roles include keeping time, keeping score, measuring the distance between bocce balls, escorting athletes to their race, handing out awards, and event set up and clean up. No experience is required for these roles and all instructions will be provided at the event. Photographers and medical volunteers with experience are also needed for this event. Franklin Flag Football State Tournament on Saturday, November 16

The Franklin Flag Football Final State Tournament is Saturday, November 16th at Franklin High School located at 218 Oak Street in Franklin, MA 02038.   This event is the final state tournament for the flag football season and is the culmination of 3 months of training and mid-season qualifying tournaments. Flag football is our premier sport for the Play Unified movement - every team is Unified which consists of athletes both with and without intellectual disabilities who are teammates who train and compete together. Teams from across Massachusetts, as well as teams from Connecticut and Rhode Island, are looking forward to competing for the gold medal with your support. Volunteers will assist with a variety of roles, including keeping time, keeping score, announcing games, handing out awards, event set up and clean up, and other roles as needed. Experienced photographers and certified medical volunteers are also needed for this event.
